Norton's Kelly Allen is by herself at the top of the field in discus in Massachusetts. She defeated the field by 18 feet to the runner-up. Kelly Allen threw a mammouth throw of 140' 7" for yet another SCHOOL RECORD and personal record. The whispers in the crowd came right before she stepped into the circle. Then it fell silent. After her very first throw, which was the best of the day for her, the crown cheered loudly as they knew none of the other diccus throwers in Massachusetts were going to touch that throw. Kelly will move on to the New England Track and Field Championship next weekend in Burlington, VT ranked #1 in New England.
Kelly also placed 7th in the shotput with a throw of 37'7" and will move onto New England's in that event as well. Her 12 points combined at the ALL-STATE meet gave Norton a 15th place "team" finish in the state.
Congrats to Kelly on her accomplishments!
