Three More State Qualifiers After Hopkinton meet

April 5, 2012: NORTON- The Norton High School Girls Track Team faced Hopkinton this afternoon in a battle of the titans. The lady lancers started out strong placing second and third in the 400M hurdles, and third in the 100M. But the tide, unfortunately turned, as the Hopkinton girls began to pull away from the lancers scoring 98 points come the end of the meet. The Norton girls held their heads high as personal bests were reached and three more of the girls qualified for the State Meet.

State qualifiers from today's meet include Emma Ethier who ran the 100M hurdles in an amazing 17.1 seconds. Bri Arcaro threw the shot-put 28'2 1/2" to clinch a spot and the 4x400M relay team completed the race in 4:38.2 to hold their place at the state meet.

Some of the standouts from today's meet were Bekah Sargent who placed third in the 100M, second in the 200M and tied for first in the high jump. Kassidy Campbell who came in second in the 400M hurdles, an event that she has been excelling in. Emma Ethier placed third in the 400M hurdles, despite a tumble that she took as she neared the finish line. Ethier also crossed the line first in the 100M hurdles and third in the triple jump. Bri Arcaro had a great throw at the shot-put, which placed her third. Erin Kennedy jumped for second in the triple, and Ashley Pelletier threw over 81 feet at the javelin. The 4x100M and 4x400M relay teams both placed first scoring a total of 10 points for the lancers. The 4x100M team was comprised of Almeida, Feeney, Dufault and Pereira; the 4x400M team, Linfield, Sicard, Dufault and Almeida.

Monday the Lady Lancers are away at Dover-Sherborn at 3:30.
