Congrats to the Norton boys track team who defeated Ashland today with a 110-26 point victory to win the Tri-Valley League Small Championship. A staggering 22 athletes scored in the meet.
Kevin O'Leary lead the way with the perfect day winning all three of his events: javelin, high jump, & 200. Kevin threw the 6th best throw in the state this year, the fifth being his as well earlier this season.
Brandon Durocher had a big day for the Lancers as he won the 400 hurdles, the 110 hurdles, and was 3rd in the high jump.
Zach Sicard won the 200 and the long jump.
Sophomore Mike Tierney won the 400, was 2nd in the high jump, and was a member of the winning 4x400 team.
Senior Captain Mason Rouillard ran a veteran race against Mahoney of Ashland to came back to beat him by 2 tenths of a second and a league 3rd best time.
Jack Keane secured yet another shotput victory and a 3rd in the discus.
Max Marcotte tried a new event this season in the 2 mile and qualified for states his first time out!
Paul Schleicher won the discus again and threw for a season best 124 feet!
Senior Captain Danny Rafuse won the triple jump once again!
Freshman Justin Ireland got six points from his two second place victories in the 100 & 200 meters.
Josh Kelleher also secured two second places in the long and triple jumps while Steve Hudson did the same in the shot & discus and qualified for states in the discus. Cam Stalters also followed suit in the 110 hurdles and javelin. Cam threw a 2nd best throw this season in the TVL today!
Other notables on the day included Andrew Nartowicz's PR in the triple of 39'1.5". Also a PR went to Billy Sullivan in the mile with a 4:42.8 in his first time running it this season.
Norton will next compete this weekend on Saturday at the MSTCA Freshman/Sophmore Small Schools Division (3 & 4) at Westwood High School.
