hey! so when I saw that there weren't any responses, I felt kind of bad, and decided that I would be the first official alum to respond.
Life is good. MIT is pretty much everything it's cracked up to be, save for a few bad stereotypes (no, people don't pull all-nighters on a regular basis... and yes, there are actually parties here.. in fact, we have 27 frats..)I love it here; this is definitely the right place for me. I'm working pretty hard to catch up to the average student right now in the math and science realms, but the backgrounds that everyone has are extremely varied. I haven't had a hard time finding where I fit in here...there are classes for people like me, who've barely had physics, and then classes for the freshmen who've had 3 years of physics, one or two at a university.. I'm not going to lie though, the work is hard, and there's a lot of it. I got a 60 on a calc test a few weeks ago, but since the average was a 48, I guess I'm ok haha... that pretty much sums up how the grading works- a lot of people fail tests and things, but as long as you don't fail much more than the people sitting next to you, you're alright.
Other than work though, I've done some pretty cool things. I joined a sorority.. yeah, you probably didn't see that one coming- Barth is still upset about it, hopefully he'll get over it sometime soon...
Halloween lasted for like 2 weeks here, which was pretty cool. I switched between Curt Schilling and an M&M depending on where I was going. Which leads me to .. oh, that's right... the REDSOX!!! I can't even describe how cool it was being in Boston for the play-offs. We went in to the riots a few times, and it was crazy, and so much fun. As soon as they won the series, we ran across the bridge to Fenway and joined the partying in the streets... a little scary when the police started pushing people around with sticks and big dogs...I feared for my life a little, but it was totally fine. Andd of course, I went to the parade.. kind of skipped classes Tuesday (not a good idea.. but my mom even approved, she said I might not get the chance again anytime soon).. but it's all good. Pretty sweet seeing Manny, Dice K, Varitek, etc up close and personal.
Ok, so I just realized that this is getting pretty long.. and if you haven't stopped reading by now, you probably will soon.. but basically, I love it, and I'm pretty much having the time of my life. That said though, I have to go work on physics down the hall...
see you all at thanksgiving!!!
