Captain Zach Sicard Leads Lancer Boys to Victory Over Dover-Sherborn 98-38

Dover Sherborn came to Norton in busloads, unloading 205 athletes (girls and boys) comprising of one third of their school.  Norton was ready for the challenge in their home opener as they beat the Raiders 98-38 on the boys side.  

Senior Captain Zach Sicard lead the Lancers boys to victory with his 11.25 varsity points over on of their TVL Small rivals; the Dover-Sherborn Raiders.  Sicard won the long and triple jumps and led off the winning 4x100 meter relay team. 


Mike Tierney won both the 400 meter hurdles and 400 meters for the second meet in a row while also securing 3rd place overall in the long jump.  Kevin O'Leary had a mammoth throw in the javelin of 166'7" for first.  He also placed 2nd in the shotput and anchored the winning 4x100 meter team.

Brandon Durocher qualified for states in all three of his events; high jump with a jump of 5'9" and secured the 5 points, 400 hurdles for 2nd place, & 110 high hurdles for 3rd place.

Cam Stalters continued his dominance in the 110 hurdles winning with a league leading time, while also getting a big PR throw in the javelin of 154'10" behind fellow teammate Kevin O'Leary.  Justin Ireland won the 100 meters for the second week in a row and also helped with some points in the 4x100 relay and a third in the long jump.

Adam Winiarz earned his first ever varsity outdoor win in the 200 meters.  He also was a member of the 4x100 relay and placed 3rd in the triple. 

In the distance events, reliable senior veteran Max Marcotte won the mile with one of the fastest times in the league so far (4:39.9) and qualified for states.  Chris Wrenn won the 2 mile in his debut and qualified for states posting a 10:39.8.

Norton will compete next Wednesday against a very tough Bellingham Blackhawk team at home.
