High Flying Act in Holliston With Tierney and Cleathero; Boys Win Season Openers in Convincing Fashion!

Senior Captain Mike Tierney Places 1st in High Jump with a League Leading Jump of 5'11"
Congrats to the Norton boys indoor track team who started the season off very strong with two very convincing wins today.  The boys beat the Holliston Panthers 70-16 and the Ashland Clockers 72-14 and they move to 2-0 on the season.

The highlight of the day was when the entire gym stopped to watch the high flying act of Senior Captain Mike Tierney and Junior Camden Cleathero soar their way into state qualifying jumps of 5'11" and 5'10" respectively.  Tierney was just 1 inch off the school record!

The Lancer boys were led in points by powerhouse Justin Ireland, who placed 1st in the dash and 300 in both meets and took a second and third in the shotput totalling a staggering 24 points in two meets! Close behind him with 20 points was senior captain Cam Stalters winning both the hurdles and shotput easily.

Mike Tierney had an impressive day with 16 (high jump wins & 2nd in 600), followed by Chris Wrenn (1000 & relay winner), Joey Annand (mile and relay winner), and Parker Cleathero (600 and relay winner) all with 12.50 points. Camden Cleathero has an impressive day with 12 points with his runner up spots in the high jump and hurdles.  Andrew Raneri totaled 12 as well with placements in the dash, high jump, and 300.
Impressing coaches in the debut meet was freshman Ian Pereira placing 2nd in the 1000 meters in both races. Other point-getters on the day included Jordan Lach (4), Sean Cappellini (2.50), Elliot Ariola (2), Chris Tatarczuk (2), Chris Alves (1), Tom LeClaire (1), Alex Domagalski (1), and Chris Litchfield (1).

Norton track comes home to Wheaton this Wednesday, December 17th to face the Westwood Wolverines and the Dover-Sherborn Raiders.
