Norton Boys are the Runner-Up Team at the Division 4 State Relays; High Jump Team of Cleathero, Mercado, & McAlear Break School Record!

Congrats to the Norton boys track team who for the 4th year in a row (2nd, 1st, 1st, 2nd respectively) took home hardware from the State Relays.  The boys finished runner-up to a very deep North Reading team (79 points) this year with 54 points.  7 of the 8 relay teams Norton brought placed and scored for the Lancers!

The boys had THREE Division 4 State Relays Championship teams:

4 x 800 team (out of 22 teams) of Chris Wrenn, Sean Cappellini, Parker Cleathero, & Joey Annand - 8:27.23

4 x 200 team (out of 26 teams) of Justin Ireland, Camden Cleathero, Justin Martins, & Jeffrey Beaucage - 1:32.63

Javelin Relay team (out of 18 teams) of Alex Buchan, Deven Schuko, & Justin Ireland - 417'6" (with Alex throwing a D4 leading toss of 161' 8" and newcomer to the event Justin Ireland throwing a huge PR of 132 feet!)

Coming in 2nd by only 1.25 inches was Norton's High Jump Relay team of Camden Cleathero, Eddie Mercado Jr., & Griff McAlear who, with their efforts, broke the existing SCHOOL RECORD by 1.5 inches (previously held by Camden Cleathero, Cam Stalters, & Mike Tierney from 2015).  The most impressive part of this relay team was they did it with Eddie Mercado Jr. and freshman Griff McAlear, both in their first time the high jump relay!  Congrats to all three team members.

Another 2nd place finish out of 27 teams was by the TVL league leading 4 x 400 relay team of Nick Reynolds, Griff McLaughlin, Sean Cappellini, & Chris Wrenn with a 3:31.81!

A 3rd place finish in the 4 x 100 (out of 29 teams) was the team of Justin Ireland, Justin Martins, Jeffrey Beaucage, & Eddie Mercado Jr. - 45.70.

The Shuttle Hurdle Relay Team placed and scored in the hurdles (5th) for the 6th straight year!  The team of Camden Cleathero, Alex Carignan, Colin O'Leary, & Brandon Blair grabbed 2 points with their 1:09.07 finish.
