Norton Boys Win Second Straight TVL Title in DRAMATIC Fashion by 2.5 Points as it Comes Down to the 4x400 Relay!

In an incredible turn of events at the Tri-Valley League Conference Championships, the Norton boys were still able to secure the victory after their senior captain Camden Cleathero went down with a hamstring injury in the finals of the 110 hurdles, forcing him to also not participate in the finals of the 100 and the high jump.  This took around 24-26 points away from the Lancer boys.  With the meet projected as close as it was against a very strong Hopkinton team, the outlook looked grim after Camden went down, but a couple of swings the other way with the Hopkinton throwers in the discus projected at least 18+ points did not even scoring.  Then in the high jump where the Hiller jumpers were projected around 14 points only scored 10.  This let Norton  right back into the meet where they lead after 15 events going into the 4 x 400 relay to decide it all.  To win, they would need to beat a good Dover-Sherborn team (who ultimately finished 3rd overall) by at least 4 spots and keep Hopkinton within 1 spot of them.  The clutch team of Nick Reynolds, Griff McLaughlin, Sean Cappellini, & Chris Wrenn secured the victory and lead from the first leg on!  Hopkinton finished a close 6 seconds behind.  Norton won the meet by 2.5 points!!

However, the 4x400 would not be in the position to secure the victory if it was not for the incredible effort of the rest of the team.  Lead by Senior Captain Justin Ireland with 24 points, many Lancers scored points, and obviously, EVERY POINT MATTERED! Justin won the 100 meters, placed 2nd in the 200 meters, and placed 3rd in the javelin.
