Nail Biter for the Lady Lancers Results in a VICTORY!

Norton: Today the Lady Lancers faced off against the Raiders of Dover Sherborn. Prior to the meet Coach Balzarini had done several match-ups, all either in the Raiders favor, or resulting in a tie. Knowing this she went into the meet attempting to motivate her girls to rise above. The pre-meet speech was full of hope and emphasized to the girls the importance of this meet if the lancers wanted to keep their small school championship title. And after 15 long events, the fate of the lancers was determined, they had already won, the meet did not rely on the 4x400m relay! The Lady Lancers won 68.5-67.5, the odd score coming from a tie for third place in the 200m sprint. Bekah Sargent sprinted her heart out against league leaders Wood and O'Callahan of D/S and in the final steps she leaned to earn the lancers the half point needed to clinch the victory. Throughout the remainder of the meet the two teams seemed to be quite evenly matched. The Lancers swept the high jump and the 100m hurdles, the raiders took both the mile and 2 mile. The mid distance and sprinting events were shared by both teams, but it was the lancer's strong field that along with consistent performances helped them to clinch the true victory.
