Boys 4x800 WINS the MSTCA State Coaches Meet (All Divisions); DESTROY Old School Record by 7 Seconds, Keane Throws a Mammouth Toss in the Shotput!

Wow! What can we say! The Norton boys did an incredible job at the MSTCA STATE COACHES INVITE, a very prestigious meet with the hardest qualifying standards of any meet all year.

The Norton boys 4x800 (seen below from left to right) of Mason Rouillard, Mike Tierney, Billy Sullivan, and Max Marcotte not only won the meet outright, they destroyed the old school record in the meantime with a 8:15.61! The previous school record was set in 2011 by Tyler Anderson, Kevin Rogers, Mason Rouillard, and Keegan Campbell with a 8:22.69! Billy Sullivan held on to the pack in the first 800 and went 2:04 handing the baton to Max Marcotte who maintained the second place and who went sub 2:04.  Max then handed off to a red-hot Mike Tierney who, on his second lap, yelled a viking-like scream and proceeded to reel in the first place team from 50 meters back and fly by him (ALSO going sub-2:04 for a PR) handing the stick off to seasoned veteran and senior captain Mason Rouillard who closed the deal with great track awareness and pacing!  Congrats to you boys on a GREAT and ENTERTAINING RACE!

Another HUGE performance was that of Norton's top shotput thrower Senior Captain Jack Keane with a toss of 49'4.5" good enough for 8th place overall and a HUGE personal record! Congrats Jack!

Senior Captain Danny Rafuse had a nice session in the triple jump coming in 7th overall with a 41'1.5"!

Junior Kevin O'Leary placed 10th overall in the javelin with a toss of 156'3".

Finally the boys 4x100 team was one one thousandth of a second away from their season best.  The team of Kevin O'Leary, Zac Sicard, Colin Habig, & Josh Kelleher (seen below, left to right), ran a 46.45 good for 17th overall.

Norton will next compete at the Tri-Valley League Championships this Wednesday at Westwood High School at 3:30!
