One Book~One School

After reading about Lance Armstrong's struggles with cancer and about his fight back, what are some of your opinions about the autobiography? Let's start a healthy dialogue about the literary value of book, the tone, the events that unfolded, and what has happened since the novel was published.

I think Lance's struggle is admirable and it's really a great story. However, I felt like his tone was just arrogant and cocky. I couldn't stand some of the things he said. I don't like him as a person but the awareness he's raised for cancer is great. Since the book was published, I'm pretty sure he left his wife for Sheryl Crow...well.

I, for some reason, LOVED, Lance Armstrong's autobiography. I went about it all in the wrong way thinking that it was a horrible book and I would hate it. I read the book in two days and through out the whole time, I never put it down.
Although he was very cocky and arrogant, I believe that you have to be when your life is on the line. To fight cancer is a huge deal and I would be just as cocky. Even though he was just as arrogant before the cancer appeared, it was what carried him on. Without that arrogance he might not have stayed strong and given up. I greatly respect him in his struggle and I can't say that if I were in his shoes (defeating cancer and trying to get back his life) I wouldn't have come back as strong. I am with Mike on the awareness for finding a cause but not with not liking him as a person....no offense.
