Boys Win Slugfest Versus TVL Powerhouse Westwood on Opening Day; 11 State Qualifiers!!

Congrats to the boys Norton boys track team who won a slugfest with TVL perennial powerhouse Westwood today. The boys won 76-60. Senior Captain Ben Donovan led the way with 13 points winning both the long and triple jumps and coming in second in the 110 high hurdles. Junior Jon Plummer won the 100 and 200 in convincing fashion. Ramzi Bechara showed off his hurdle skills winning both the 400 hurdles and 110 high hurdles. Mason Rouillard beat two of the best, if not the best, mid-distance runners in the league taking the 800 from the start and never looking back, winning by 5 seconds! Returning state champion Joe Colley is back to his winning ways winning the javelin with a 143 foot toss! Sophomore Paul Schleicher won the discus with a bis toss of 122'10.5"!

The jumpers were out in force today taking 21 points out of a possible 27 points! Ben Donovan won the long and triple, while newcomers Danny Rafuse & Steve Burrill took seconds in the triple jump and high jump respectively. Scott Coleman took a second in the long jump. Josh Kelleher took a third in the long, while Kevin O'Leary took third in the high.

The 4x400 relay team of Brian Acker, Scott Coleman, Mason Rouillard, and Danny Lenihan took victory laps at the end of the meet winning the event.

Norton's next meet is against another TVL Powerhouse Hopkinton, this Thursday April 5th in Norton at 3:30!
