Norton Boys Open Season with Strong Win Over the Medway Mustangs!

With the biggest margin of victory in program history, the Lancer boys track team opened the season with a very strong win beating Medway 125-11!

Kevin O'Leary lead the way with a league leading javelin throw of 155'9"!  Kevin also took home a win for the Lancers in shotput and placed 2nd overall in the 100 meters.

Brandon Durocher (winner of the high jump, 2nd 400 hurdles, 2nd 110 hurdles), Mike Tierney (winner of the 400 hurdles and 400 meters, and 3rd in the high jump), Justin Ireland (winner of the 100 and 200 meters, and 3rd in the long jump), and Cam Stalters (winner of the 110 hurdles, 2nd in the javelin, and 2nd in the discus) all scored 11 points for the Lancers!

The kings of the runway took home a total of 16 points each taking a first and second.  Zach Sicard won the long jump and placed second in the triple, while Josh Kelleher took first in the triple and second in the long jump.

Senior captain distance runners Billy Sullivan (mile) and Max Marcotte (800 meters) both took home the win for the Lancers and qualified for states with their efforts. 

Finally, Paul Schleicher placed 1st for the Lancers in the discus with a PR of 135'10" and was 3 feet off the school record set back in 1986 (28 year old record)!

In all, 11 athletes and 2 relays qualified for states in the first meet of the season, an incredible feat! 

Norton hosts the Dover-Sherborn Raiders in their home opener this coming Wednesday!
