Congrats to the Norton boys track team who defeated Medfield 85-28 in the season opener yesterday. Abu Ceesay broke a 22 year old SCHOOL RECORD in the 100 meter with a 11.0 previously held by Jim Crowley (1993) and Jon Plummer (2012) 11.1. Abu also broke the 200 meter SCHOOL RECORD with a 22.5 previously held by Jon Sicard (2011) with a 23.2.
Mike Tierney broke the SCHOOL RECORD in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 58.7 besting the previous record held by Ryan Lapadula's record of 59.0 seconds from 2012.
The top varsity point receivers for the day were Mike Tierney (13), Abu Ceesay (13), Justin Ireland (11), Cam Stalters (10), and Camden Cleathero (8). Winners on the day included: Mike Tierney in the 400 meter hurdles and 400 meter dash, Abu Ceesay in the 100 and 200 meter dash, Cam Stalters in the 110 hurdles & javelin, Chris Wrenn in the 800, Justin Ireland in the long jump, Camden Cleathero in the high jump, and Nick Reynolds, Adam Winiarz, Jeff Beaucage, & Keyshawn Harris in the 4x100.
