Norton Track Splits Versus Medway: Girls Win 74-62, Boys Lose 59-77; Berardi Leads the Way With 13 Points and Huge Leap in Long Jump!

Congrats to the girls track team who defeated Medway today 74-62 for their second victory on the season (2-2).  Lead by Bella Berardi, the girls got 9 first place finishes, with Bella nabbing 2 of them: the 400 meters and the long jump.  Bella also came in second in the 200 to teammate Brooke-Lynn Williams, who both bettered their season best in that event.  Brooke-Lynn also won the 100 meters.

Mary Diestel continued to rack up varsity points on the season today getting another 9 today with her first place finish in the 400 hurdles with a lifetime best.  She also was 2nd in the triple jump and 3rd in the high jump.

Kambrynn Bowman showed her senior leadership pacing her speedster teammate Julia Palin into a state qualifying time in the 800 as they both finished within one-tenth of each other for the 1-2 placements. Both those girls bookend-ed the  4x400 relay to victory winning by a very narrow margin of 0.2!

Hannah Delea was out in force today with a lighting fast time in the hurdles of 17.2 for the win.

Finally, both girl relays sprinted to victory in the 4x100 and 4x400. 4x100 members were Hannah Kubinski, Alexa Sousa-Shumosic, Julia Newell, & Kirsten Loring.  The 4x400 victors were Julia Palin, Hannah Kubinski, Abbey O'Brien, & Kambrynn Bowman.

3rd Javelin - Murphy

The boys suffered another loss today to Medway 59-77 and remain winless on the season. The boys were missing 3 of their top varsity athletes due to illness or injury but managed to pull out a decent score and many PR's against one of  the toughest teams in the league this year.

First place boys finishers on the day included Ian Pereira in the 100 (2nd in the 200, 2nd in the high jump), Joey Annand in the mile, Aiden Lerner in the 400, DJ Nihill in the 800, and Corey Stalters in the javelin with a huge new PR who also placed 2nd in the hurdles!

Both Norton boy relays also won.  The 4x100 of Peter Rivard, Wyatt Simmons, Tyler DeRosa, & Connor Reynolds eeked out the win by 0.2 while the 4x400 boys cruised to victory with a 3:53.1 with  the team of DJ Nihill, Austin Carroll, Joey Annand, & Aiden Lerner.

Norton will have a very short recovery as they take on another TVL powerhouse on Thursday at home on SENIOR DAY with the MEDFIELD WARRIORS!
