Wisnaskas and Murphy Double Winners as Lancers Split Bellingham in Fall 2 Opener

A long time coming, the Lancers returned to their first team competition since last winter's New England Championships. Competing in traditional indoor track & field events while outdoors at NHS, the boys team lost a nail-biter to Bellingham, 41-45, while the smaller girls roster cruised easily in their season-opening win, 57-25.

On the boys' side, the captains headlined the event winners on the day, led through a hat trick by senior multis captain Paul Wisnaskas (55m H - 7.9h; 300m - 36.6h; HJ - 6'-0"), another PR performance by senior throws captain Ryan Carroll (41'-9"), and a strong opener by senior distance captain Sean Wynne (Mile - 4:53.5h). Wynne would return with Charlie Mills, Aiden Masse, and Luke Ferreira (3:57.6h) to capture the 4x400m relay in a varsity letter standard mark.

For the girls, the squad was support by underclassmen depth and upperclassmen experience, despite the smaller roster size compared to years past. Sophomore Ali Murphy (55m - 7.9h; 300m - 45.1h) began returning to form early grabbing two wins, while classmates Shaylee Owens (55m H - 9.8h), Shea Podbelski (600m - 1:45.8h), and Sienna Pietrasiewicz (Mile - 6:04.6h) earned their first career event wins. Senior captain Isabella Pietrasiewicz (1,000m - 3:08.4h) picked up where she left off from last month's Adidas Indoor Nationals, earning an easy win in her specialty by nearly a full minute. The Pietrasiewicz sisters, Podbelski and Brooke Dennett wrapped up the meet winning the 4x400m relay (4:35.3h) unopposed and hitting the varsity letter standard in the process.
