Seniors Shine on Senior Day versus Medway; Boys Win 87-49 and Move to 5-0 on the Season!

On a beautiful day in Norton, the seniors rallied together to pull out another victory on the season in their penultimate duel meet of the season at home on Senior Day! The boys won 87-49 and move to 5-0 on the season with one duel meet to go on Monday versus Medfield away.  After the meet, all the parents were in attendance to be recognized by the team and take pictures with their senior athletes.

Justin Ireland, once again, was the leader in points on the day (13) winning both the 100 & 200 and placing 2nd in the long jump.  Close behind him were his fellow senior captains Camden Cleathero (110 hurdles & high jump) and Alex Buchan (javelin & shotput) with 10 points.  Camden is currently still undefeated on the season in the 110 hurdles and high jump, while Alex Buchan remains undefeated in the javelin. Also undefeated on the season was senior Chris Wrenn in the 800, who pulled out the victory versus Medway.

Other first place finishers on senior day were senior Sean Cappellini in the 400 meters, the ALL SENIOR 4x400 relay of Griff McLaughlin, Sean Cappellini, Parker Cleathero, & Chris Wrenn, and junior Joey Annand (who also is undefeated in the mile this season).

One final note about today's meet was the stellar jumping session Eddie Mercado Jr. had.  He had a big personal record and jumped 6 feet in the high jump, which is the 2nd best jump in the league this year, behind his senior mentor teammate Camden Cleathero.

Norton will take Justin Ireland and Camden Cleathero to the MSTCA State Coaches Meet this Saturday and return to action as a team concluding the regular duel meet season this coming Monday against the Medfield Warriors at Medfield.
