Boys
As has become accustom, junior Paul Wisnaskas (8.47) started the action early for the Lancers as he grabbed a qualifying time for the finals in a rushed 55m hurdle trials. While still shaking off the rust, Wisnaskas continued to improve on his present season's best, posting an 8.36 after hitting one of the first hurdles, earning him a third place finish in the event. Though still not his strongest, his 8.36 earned him an automatic bid to the Division 4 State Championships.
However, Wisnaskas brought the most shock and awe in the long jump. The Tri-Valley League does not sponsor long jump as a league event, leaving the Lancers to only compete in the horizontal jumps at invitationals. Partnering with classmate Jack Buchan (18'-9"), the pair appeared to not miss a beat as Buchan earned a top ten finish in seventh place. Wisnaskas (20'-9.5") managed a tremendous set of jumps, with each trial breaking the school record previously held by Kevin O'Leary (13-14). The outdoor triple jump record-holder, Wisnaskas's all-time Lancer best indoor jump cleared the field by a foot and three inches, earning him the event win.
The field events served the Lancers well as the two-man wrecking crew of senior captain Jameson Macnaught (36'-8.5") and Ryan Carroll (36'-7.5") continue to push each other for the top of Norton throws. As MacNaught rounds into PR shape, Carroll tears through previous bests, narrowing in on his outdoor best mark. The pair finished beside each other, earning seventh and eighth place respectively.
The lone Top 10 finishes in the individual oval events came from mid-distance runners Sean Wynne and Ethan Tetrault. Wynne (1:33.28) ripped out from the gun in the second heat of the 600m, holding onto third in his heat that placed him 10th overall. Tetrault (2:56.71) ran a similar style race in the 1,000m, unfortunately running out of gas in the last lap, placing ninth overall. However, the pair along with Wisnaskas and Charlie Mills, came back in the 4x800m relay to further put in work on the day, grabbing third place in 9:02.95.

Boys 4x800m Relay: Mills, Tetrault, Wisnaskas & Wynne |
Yet, the 4x800m relay was not the only relay to place at Winterfest. The 4x200m squad of Jason Soares, Shawn Lestage, Danny Tran, and Nick Lebel (1:42.92) took advantage of another non-TVL event at the meet and looked to secure a state-qualifying mark. Though only off by a couple seconds, their efforts still brought home a seventh place finish. Meanwhile, wrapping up the day was the 4x400m team of Derek Bamford, Aiden Masse, Cameron Bratt, and Buchan (4:08.37), working up the one-heat final comfortably finishing in third.

The meet rolled in the right direction right from the gun for the Lady Lancers as well. Leading off, three Lancers quickly qualified for the finals of the 55m dash and 55m hurdles. Heather Kurland (9.79) took off in a season's best to ease past the trials in the hurdles while first-year Ali Murphy (7.92) and senior captain Eve Rodriguez (8.10) replicated the trend in the short dash. Running back and fourth in between long jump trials, Kurland (9.62) and Rodriguez (8.03) posted top notch performances in the finals to grab a fifth and sixth place finish respectively. Meanwhile, Murphy (7.84) narrowly missed out on an automatic state-qualifying time, earning a runner-up finish in her first indoor invitational.
Going a step further, Kurland (16'-6.25") and Rodriguez (14'-8.5") took off in the long jump despite not having the option to compete in the event in the TVL. Rodriguez's season debut landed her ninth on the day while Kurland grabbed a second place finish along with an automatic state-qualifying mark. While in the fields but outside the oval, Michaela Whiteside (28'-7.75") shaped up a solid toss in the shot put, finishing in tenth place.
The lone Lady Lancer win was also an automatic state-qualifier from junior Isabella Pietrasiewicz (5:21.14). Competing alongside D1 track recruits, Pietrasiewicz showed a calm and collected manner, surging to the front after the first lap of the mile. After seizing the lead, there was no question that she possessed the race and would not relinquish the lead despite late kicks trying to threaten. In her heat, teammate Meg Cross (5:48.92) also enjoyed a near personal best in the event to round out the top ten finishers. Cross, Pietrasiewicz, Ashley Schepis, and Ashley Johnson (10:50.66) would go on to place second in the 4x800m relay later towards the end of the meet.
The other second place relay on the day belonged to the 4x200m, run by Rodriguez, Murphy, Kurland and Lindsey Bingel (1:53.00). Another near state-qualifying performance had the quartet close to within a second a half, once again, in an event that is only raced at invitationals.
Holding down the mid-distance/long sprints, senior Kylie Dion (1:51.68) had incredibly running mechanics in running a season's best and comfortably controlling her section, placing sixth overall in the 600m run. Dion closed the meet with Caitlin Whiteside, Kaitlin Russell, and Shaylee Owens (4:42.81) running to a third place finish in the 4x400m relay.
